A Heart for Haiti

A Heart for Haiti (www.aheartforhaiti.org) is a fundraising project that my friends, my family and I are doing to help a hospital in Haiti.

When I saw the news, I knew I wanted to do something.  I have thought about and prayed everyday for a little girl my age named Sandie in Haiti that I helped sponsor through the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging.  I decided my project would be to design and make Valentine’s cards that people could exchange with their friends and family. I asked my friends and family to help.  I helped my mom write an email at 8:00 Friday night asking my friends to design original artwork for Valentines.  By 10:00 Saturday morning, my friends were already dropping off cards they had made! A printer reproduced our artwork into Valentines the size of postcards that day and by 7:00pm Saturday we were already accepting donations for the cards.  In 24 hours we have already sold almost 700 cards! I am hoping we can have thousands of people exchanging these Valentine’s cards this year so we can really help a very special hospital in Haiti!!!

All of the proceeds from the cards are going to St. Boniface Hospital in Fond des Blancs, Haiti.  Some of my family just came back from a trip there.  We are going to put some pictures they took on their trip on our website. This hospital has been helping people in Haiti since 1983.  You can see the hospital and everything they do at www.haitihealth.org.

We would like for more kids to get involved in the project we have started.  You can e-mail us your own card design at designs@aheartforhaiti.org. Click on the Store link here or above, to see the designs we have now and buy cards.  Check back often to see other ways that you can help.

Add us on Facebook and on Facebook Causes.

Thank you sooo much!!!  Cardy and family
